Costume Discounters Reviews

I don't know a single child who doesn't love to play pretend and dress up. My boys are no exception! They wear their Halloween costumes year round. When Costume Discounters contacted me about reviewing a costume the hardest decision was what costume to choose.

Costume Discounters has costumes for boys and girls of all ages. J went back and forth between several choices and finally decided on the Fire Fighter Costume. He was so excited when it arrived he immediately changed into it.

L really wanted to be in the picture too!

This picture cracks me up!

The fireman costumes come with pants, a jacket and hood. Unfortunately the helmet wasn't included but we already have a few helmets lying around so J didn't mind too much. The costume was easy for J to put on and take off himself. L was even able to dress himself in it even though it was a pretty big on him.

Don't let the company's name Costume Discounters fool you. The fireman costume itself was good quality. Most importantly it's machine washable! Any mother knows how important that is especially when your child wants to wear something almost everyday. As rough as my boys are with their things this costume will be able to be worn over and over again.

Monster High GIVEAWAY

Sakar and Mattel have teamed up to create Fashion Walkie Talkies. Monster High Walkie Talkies are part of an exciting new line of children's tech toys that was recently announced at the Consumer Electronics Show this past January.

Walkie Talkies keep my kids busy for hours! I loved that the Monster High Walkie Talkies come with an ear plug so I don't have to listen to the conversations all over the house. They have a light up antenna allowing the kids to use them at night (even when they should be sleeping!)There's even a mirror on the back so you can see any one behind you. The frequency reached all over our house, upstairs and down, no problem. The walkie talkies weren't made of the sturdiest of materials because they're a toy. But I was felt better knowing they came with a 1 year manufacturing warranty.

You can purchase Monster High Walkie Talkies at Toys R Us and retails for $19.99

Want to WIN your own set of Monster High Walkie Talkies?? One Oh My Baby reader will WIN their own set. Leave your comment by 11:59pm EST on July 12th. Winner will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen. Good Luck!!

Kix Cereal Review & GIVEAWAY

"When it comes to starting off your day right, a new survey from Kix found that 84 percent of parents turn to cereal with milk for a quick and healthy breakfast.

Cereal is one of the healthiest breakfast choices parents can make. Ready-to-eat cereal has fewer calories than almost any other common breakfast option, while also being nutrient-dense and convenient. In addition, cereal eaters consume less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters.

With the same great taste kids have loved for more than 70 years, Kix makes it easy to serve your family a simple and healthy breakfast! Whether you choose to serve Original Kix or Honey Kix, you can be sure that your kids are getting a wholesome food with nutrients they need to grow.

The "Kid-Tested Mother-Approved®"cereal is made with whole grain corn and is an excellent source of iron. It also is a good source of calcium, fiber, and Vitamins C and D. Original Kix has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

To find out more, visit the recently launched Kix website, http://www.kixcereal.com/, featuring background on the history of Kix, nutritional content, and special offers"

My kids were so excited when our review prize pack arrived. It included a 24-piece counting-themed floor puzzle, fun learn-to-count flashcards, a sippy cup, a portable snack container and a box each of Original Kix and Honey Kix cereal. The boys were already fans of Kix cereal but had not tried the Honey Kix Cereal before. They love it! They both like it as a snack without milk too. J was thrilled with the floor puzzle as well. He's put that thing together countless times and he's even nice enough to let L play with it sometimes too.

One random Oh My Baby reader will WIN their own prize pack including all the same items we received. Leave your comment by 11:59 pm EST on December 17th. U.S. addresses only please

J loves music! He always has. Even at 4 years old, he's already memorizing song lyrics from the radio. I knew Rock 'N Learn would be a great alternative then the traditional books and worksheets. I must say these DVDs came in handy when we went on what was supposed to be a 2 hour car ride that turned into 4 hours. These were a lifesaver! We were all singing the AEIOU song. The characters are entertaining and the songs are catchy. They were easy to sing along without realizing you were learning. These Rock 'N Learn DVDs were truly enjoyable.

Hasbro U-Build Sorry! Game Review

Playing the same game over and over again can get a little boring over time. Hasbro has come out with a new line of U-Build games to create, customize and play your way.

U-Build includes popular Hasbro games
- Connect Four
- Monopoly
- Battle Ship
- Sorry!
- Mouse Trap

U-Build games allow you to build the game, creating a unique experience every time. Kids can move different pieces to different locations and have hours of fun building, knocking down, jumping over and re-building walls.

We love playing games as a family so we were thrilled when we had the opportunity to review Hasbro's U-Build Sorry! Game. J had a great time building all of the walls. His favorite part was the claw that took my pieces back to the beginning. He just thought it was hilarious! We spent hours building, knocking down, claw grabbing and rebuilding the walls in different places all over the board. Being able to change the board around really did make for a new game every time we played.

U-Build Sorry! includes 98 U-BUILD bricks, 8 small SORRY! pawns, 4 large SORRY! pawns, 2 dice with label sheet, a 10" x 10" gameboard, assembly guide and game guide.

Hasbro is encouraging all families to sit down together for Family Game Night on September 29th.

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Review

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is a staple in our house. My kids love it and I love the convenience. When asked if I wanted to review the new Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Cheddar Explosion, I knew it wouldn't be hard to convince the kids to try them.

The new line of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Cheddar Explosion comes in 3 delicious flavors:

-- Extreme Cheese Explosion
-- Grilled Cheese Explosion
-- Cheddar Cheese Explosion

Each new flavor explodes with more cheese sauce and bigger shapes - as compared to our Spirals Macaroni & Cheese dinner and Original Macaroni & Cheese dinner cups.

The dinners were simple to make, in the microwave or on the stovetop. They were quick and tasty. The noodles came out tender and the extra sauce was creamy. J's favorite was Cheddar and he just loved the bigger shaped pasta. He also liked the Grilled Cheese (another favorite meal of his) and actually said it tasted like grilled cheese. Can you tell how excited J was about this review?! He came up with this pose himself.

Hasbro Buckaroo Game Review

Hasbro has introduced a new line of licensed games based on the recently released, Toy Story 3 movie. Family classic games such as Operation, Buckaroo, Yahtzee Jr., and Memory have all been updated with a Toy Story twist. Kids of all ages will love playing these new games with Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang.

I was always a fan of the Toy Story movies and now J is too. We received Buckaroo Featuring Toy Story 3's Bullseye for review.

We all had a great time playing Buckaroo, trying to get all the pieces onto Bullseye's saddle before he bucked throwing everything off of him. You never know what will set him off kicking. The pieces include a riding boot, hat, guitar, lantern and more. This was an easy game for J to learn and we played it over and over again. J's favorite part was when Bullseye would buck and all the pieces would go flying. He just thought it was hilarious!

Hasbro encourages family time with National Family Game Night. This is a great opportunity to turn of the TV, computers and cell phones and sit around the table with you family playing some of Hasbro's classic games. Mark you calendar because this year's National Family Game Night is September 29th!

Sugar Free Ring Pop Review & Giveaway

"Ring Pop is the ideal treat for today’s active kids. It’s a candy kids can wear on their finger, so they never have to worry about dropping it. As a parent, now you can feel even better about giving Ring Pop to your kids because the new Sugar Free Ring Pop doesn't promote tooth decay, has no fat, and has just 30 calories per great-tasting, long-lasting pop. Enjoy the fun of Ring Pop without the sugar!"

Sugar Free Ring Pop are sweetened with Splenda and comes in three mouth-watering flavors: Blue Raspberry, Watermelon, and Strawberry! Look for it at Wal-Mart Stores nationwide.

J's favorite treat are Ring Pops so when I had the opportunity to try Sugar Free Ring Pops I jumped at the chance. I always save Ring Pops as a special treat for J because I was concerned it was too much sugar for a little boy and wanted him to eat it sparingly. I feel so much better knowing there are now Sugar Free Ring Pops. I waited until it was time for a special treat (I knew if I just gave J a ring pop out of the blue he would probably be a little suspicious ha!) and handed J a Sugar Free Ring Pop in his favorite strawberry flavor. At first lick, he gave me a kind of confused look like maybe he knew it was something different. But, that didn't stop him. He ate the whole thing without a complaint and of course asked for another one!

I have a 3 pack of Sugar Free Ring Pops, one of each flavor: Blue Raspberry, Watermelon and Strawberry to giveaway to one Oh My Baby reader. Leave your comment by June 4th 11:59 pm EST. U.S. addresses only.

Blast Pad Review

Growing Tree Toys has a variety of education toys for boys and girls of all ages. They were generous enough to send me their Blast Pad for review.

Description

What’s that flying through the air? It’s a bird – no it’s a plane – no it’s a Booster Pack Missile flying with the Blast Pad from Marky Sparky! Launch missiles high into the sky from the Blast Pad by simply acting like a frog and hopping onto the launch pad – your jump forces air through the launch tube and sends a Booster Pack Missile flying. The flex launch tube of the Blast Pad extends almost 3 feet, points safely away from children, and only launches in the vertical position. Start blasting away with the one-of-a-kind Blast Pad from Marky Sparky! Includes 3 missiles

After weeks of frigid temps and lots of snow we were finally able to get outside one afternoon. J was so excited to finally be able to open the Blast Pad. The missiles are foam tipped and I really liked that all of the pieces can be stored together. I don't have 3 missiles laying around or getting lost. J could get the missiles on the tube easily by himself. After jumping on the launch pad, we were all surprised by how high the missiles actually went. I'm embarrassed to say that Dear Hubby and I ended up in a contest to see who could get their missiles the highest while J would run after them. I felt good in knowing that the missiles can only be shot vertically into the air making it safer for kids. If the tube is bent, the missiles just pop off. I know this because Dear Hubby tried to aim one at me...nice influence huh?

Want to buy a Blast Pad for yourself? They retail for $27.95 and can be purchased at Growing Tree Toys.
I received this product free of charge for review from Growing Tree Toys. The views and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way. Thank you to Growing Tree Toys for this opportunity!

General Mills - Less Sugar for Healthy Kids

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
- Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.

- Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.

- More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

We love cereal in this house. When I was pregnant with both kids, cereal was the only thing I craved and ate over and over and over again. Companies do a great job of marketing their cereals in bright and colorful boxes with cute cartoon characters. It's so tempting for J whenever we go down the cereal isle. He always chooses the boxes that are colorful and fun, not even knowing what is inside. It makes me feel so much better knowing that General Mills is working hard at giving kids what they want and need and they do it all with the bright colors that J loves. Not only are General Mill's cereals great in a bowl with milk but they are versatile for other snacks as well. I love making chex mix with their varieties of Chex and Cheerios. They are a great snack for J or make enough to share with friends at a party.

I received 4 free cereal coupons from General Mills and My Blog Spark for review on my blog. The views and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

"Winnie The Pooh - A Special Valentine For You" Movie Review

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You Special Edition on January 5, 2010. I grew up watching and loving Winnie the Pooh so I was excited to have the opportunity to review the movie and share it with J. This Valentine animated collections includes 3 Winnie the Pooh stories, including A Valentine for You, Un-Valentine's Day and My Hero.

I live on the East Coast and we've had a lot of snow and blistering cold weather lately so this was the perfect chance to stay inside, snuggle under a blanket and watch some movies. J was so excited when he saw he had a new movie to watch. A Valentine for You is about Pooh and his friends seeing Christopher Robin writing a Valentine for a new girl and they become concerned that he will no longer have time for them. This is a sweet story that reminds us we have enough room in our hearts for both new and old friends. Un-Valentine's Day is about Rabbit wanting to cancel Valentine's Day because he got too many valentines the year before. Reluctantly everyone agrees. Next thing you know, Valentine's Day is in full swing and even Rabbit is happy to be celebrating. The third and final story is My Hero. This story is about Piglet saving Tigger's life and Tigger wanting to do anything and everything to repay Piglet, even when it does him more harm then good.

BONUS FEATURES

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You Special Edition is available for U.S. $29.99 (SRP), Canada $35.99 (SRP) from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

J loved all 3 of the stories and we watch the whole collection atleast twice a day. These classic stories are heart warming and can be enjoyed for years to come. I know when Baby L gets bigger he will love them all too and it will be a great way for the boys to bond together.

I received a copy of this movie free of charge for review on my blog. I was not compensated in any other way. All views and opinions are my own.

Kidorable Review and Giveaway

Kidorable has some of the most...well adorable products I've ever seen. Their line of kids rain gear and accessories are so creative and unique. Everything is made in bright bold colors. All of their products can be purchased separately or you can purchase the whole matching set. There are dinosaurs, butterflies, frogs , bees and so much more.

Kidorable sent us a wonderful box full of goodies. As soon as I opened the box, J's first reaction was "OH. MY. GOSH!" His face lit up when he saw his new Fireman Raincoat! . J loves all things Fireman. For his last birthday party the theme was firemen so you can only imagine the true excitement. We also received the matching Fireman boots and umbrella.

It hasn't rained since we received our products but that hasn't stopped J from wearing everything. We've had a lot of guests lately and J has been so excited to show off all of his new fireman gear.

My favorite part of the fireman raincoat is the hood. It's just like a fireman's hat, so not only does it look more authentic but the brim makes it easy for rainwater to rolls off rather then drip into his face.

The Fireman Rainboots are just adorable! They are made of natural rubber to keep his feet nice and dry. This is J's first pair of rainboots. I'm not quiet sure why I haven't thought about buying him a pair before because he loves to jump in every puddle he sees. I've actually heard they are good for snow too since snowboots can still get wet. I plan on trying them out next time it snows.

"Look Who's Coming..." Personalized Book Review & Giveaway

Designed for children ages 8 months and up, “Look Who is Coming…” is a charming, interactive tale that is personalized for each child via the inclusion of photos of friends, family and other special people in the child’s life by simply sliding a photo into the built-in tabs. “Look Who is Coming” also encourages your child to count, identify people, objects and colors and develop facial recognition and fine motor skills while following different friends along the way.

My kids love books and this one was extra special. Not just because you can put a picture of your child in it but because ou can also includes other family and friends. We've got family all over the country, some Baby L hasn't even met yet. It's been great looking through the colorful pictures with with him saying "Aunt Jenny" with a picture of her face. Look Who's Coming... also helps your child count. Each page has a new object to count such as, four birds and five ladybugs. The last page has a little mirror that says "I see a smile!" Baby L cracks up everytime I flip up the flap so he can see himself. I like the idea that I can easily change out the pictures so all of our family and friends can be included.

You can purchase your own copy of "Look Who's Coming..." from Amazon or you can WIN one right here! One Oh My Baby reader will win their own copy of "Look Who's Coming" by leaving me a comment by 11:59 p.m. January 6th. One random winner will be chosen and have 48 hours to respond.
