Cards for Kayla....
Sandra Gronley is a woman I have never met. She lives on the other side of the country from me. We don't have any mutual friends and about the only thing we have in common is that we are both mothers. Even though I will probably never meet Sandra, she and her family have become our new friends.
In 2008, just days before Christmas, Sandra's husband Jimmy, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Just 2 days later, Sandra and Jimmy's beautiful daughter Kayla was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. How much can one family take??
Kayla is now 6 years old and has been in and out of hospitals since being diagnosed. In recent days, Kayla is not doing well and her dad Jimmy has a tumor the size of a softball inside his chest.
When asked what Kayla's dislikes are, she says, the dark, monsters, heparin and spinal taps. Heparin and spinal taps?? A 6 year old should not even know what those words mean.

Last week, Kayla was released from the hospital only to be called back an hour later. Right now Kayla is neutropenic {no immune system}, and has bacteria in her blood.
Some wonderful bloggers got together and wanted to make a positive impact in Kayla's life. They asked Sandra what we can do to help brighten Kayla's days. Sandra said that Kayla loves getting mail, that she loves getting a card in the mail. I know we all love getting little surprises in the mail, so you can only imagine how much more special it would be for Kayla.
No one is asking for any money, just a small token for a sweet little girl to help put a smile on her face and give her a few extra moments of happiness.
If you need some ideas Kayla loves:
* the movie Hocus Pocus
* the colors pink and purple
* All animals especially cats
* Disney Princesses

We went to Target today and picked up a sweet card for Kayla. J is only 3 but learning to write his name and signed the card himself. We also picked up a small princess purse with a matching necklace and bracelet inside. We even got a few extra stickers for Kayla's brother. I can only imagine how this is affecting him too. All of this was only a few dollars out of my pocket and 2 mins of my time but I know will mean the world the Kayla.
