Sony Pictures just released the comedy, The Accidental Husband on DVD November 10th. This film stars Uma Thurman as Dr Emma Lloyd, a relationship expert and radio talk show host. Fire Fighter Patrick Sullivan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (you may remember him from Grey's Anatomy), seeks revenge on Dr Lloyd, after she advises his fiancee to break off their engagement. As revenge, Patrick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) forges a fake marriage license marrying him and Emma (Uma Thurman) who is already engaged to Richard (Colin Firth) in hopes to ruin her relationship as well.
Dear Hubby and I get don't get a lot of alone time so I was excited to receive this movie for review. We made plans 3 days in advance to put the kids to bed at a decent hour, have the chores done and computers off. It's not often I get to watch something that isn't on Disney Channel or Nick Jr these days. We popped some popcorn and sat ourselves down on the couch.
I don't want to go into too great of detail and risk giving too much of the movie away but here is my honest opinion. In the beginning, Emma was an uptight and proper "love doctor" and I felt Uma went a little overboard playing her character that she started to annoy me. She definitely loosened up as the movie went on and I grew to like her. There were a few scenes that seemed a little cliche. Patrick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was like-able and you actually felt bad for the guy not only because his fiancee dumps him but also how he finds out. There were several laugh-out-loud funny scenes that helped bring the movie together.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Dear Hubby did too. In fact, his exact words were "Decent movie. I didn't fall asleep once so that's a good sign". Words of a true movie critic. It was a nice comedy and cute date movie. Now that it's on DVD, you can enjoy it in the comforts of your own couch and spend some good quality time with a certain someone. Perfect stocking stuffer size for the upcoming holiday season too.
I received this movie free of charge for a review on my blog. The views and opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.
