Cards for Kayla....

Sandra Gronley is a woman I have never met. She lives on the other side of the country from me. We don't have any mutual friends and about the only thing we have in common is that we are both mothers. Even though I will probably never meet Sandra, she and her family have become our new friends.

In 2008, just days before Christmas, Sandra's husband Jimmy, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Just 2 days later, Sandra and Jimmy's beautiful daughter Kayla was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. How much can one family take??

Kayla is now 6 years old and has been in and out of hospitals since being diagnosed. In recent days, Kayla is not doing well and her dad Jimmy has a tumor the size of a softball inside his chest.
When asked what Kayla's dislikes are, she says, the dark, monsters, heparin and spinal taps. Heparin and spinal taps?? A 6 year old should not even know what those words mean.

Kayla wearing Mommy's hair

Last week, Kayla was released from the hospital only to be called back an hour later. Right now Kayla is neutropenic {no immune system}, and has bacteria in her blood.

Some wonderful bloggers got together and wanted to make a positive impact in Kayla's life. They asked Sandra what we can do to help brighten Kayla's days. Sandra said that Kayla loves getting mail, that she loves getting a card in the mail. I know we all love getting little surprises in the mail, so you can only imagine how much more special it would be for Kayla.

No one is asking for any money, just a small token for a sweet little girl to help put a smile on her face and give her a few extra moments of happiness.

If you need some ideas Kayla loves:
* the movie Hocus Pocus
* the colors pink and purple
* All animals especially cats
* Disney Princesses

We went to Target today and picked up a sweet card for Kayla. J is only 3 but learning to write his name and signed the card himself. We also picked up a small princess purse with a matching necklace and bracelet inside. We even got a few extra stickers for Kayla's brother. I can only imagine how this is affecting him too. All of this was only a few dollars out of my pocket and 2 mins of my time but I know will mean the world the Kayla.

AIR BUD: GOLDEN RECEIVER SPECIAL EDITION Review

On Tuesday, February 2nd, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release Air Bud: Golden Receiver Special Edition on DVD. This movie is the sequel to Air Bud, the popular basketball playing dog named Buddy. In the Air Bud: Golden Receiver, Buddy is tackling another sport - football.

Story:

Now you can kick off all-star family fun with the heartwarming Air Bud: Golden Receiver Special Edition, featuring exclusive all-new bonus action: Sports Channel play-by-play quarterbacked by the Buddies! This time out, Buddy, the hoop-shooting, hotshot canine, tackles a new sport—football. When his teenage owner reluctantly becomes the school’s new quarterback, Buddy catches the spirit and joins the team. Soon, the two find themselves leading the Timberwolves to the state championship. But victory hopes are sidelined when two sinister Russian circus owners take a bite out of everyone’s plans and dog nap Buddy for their star attraction. Give three cheers for Disney’s hilarious hit that goes the whole nine yards for outrageous fun and adventure.

the Buddies, B-Dawg, Mudbud, Buddha and Rosebud, review the instant replay on the amazing
football career of their dad, Air Bud.

J already liked the original Air Bud movie so you can only imagine how excited he was when he saw Air Bud: Golden Receiver. This is a movie our whole family has enjoyed, which is nice since J has watched it at least twice a day since we received it. He gets so excited watching Buddy running around the football field and actually pretends he is buddy and throws his own little football around the living room. The movie has a little bit of everything with Buddy's football action, the sinister comedic Russian circus owners who take Buddy on an adventure and the love of family when Buddy's teenage owner comes to terms with his widowed mother dating for the first time. The Buddies Sports Channel bonus feature is just adorable. J wants Budderball and the gang to come live at our house!

Free Diapers from Pampers

Starting January 29th you can sign up at Pampers.com to receive a free sample 3 pack of their brand new Swaddlers or Cruisers Dry Max diapers! Pampers is introducing the new line in conjunction with the Olympics and if your sample pack has a Team USA diaper, you will win diapers for one year!

The brand new Dry Max technology offers great absorbency (up to 12 hours of protection) but is about 20% thinner than before. They will be given to the Team USA families traveling to the Olympics with babies in tow. Because Pampers new diapers are 20% thinner, they are also taking up less space in the land fills. If current Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers users switched to the new Dry Max diapers, they would throw away the weight of 1 billion diapers less every 3 years!

Starting February 12, parents can upload a video of their baby crawling from left to right. Randomly selected videos will be compiled into a Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max “Baby Relay” commercial which will air during closing day of the Olympic Winter Games, giving babies a chance to showcase their own playful ability in the same forum as the most elite athletes.

Become a fan of Pampers on Facebook and they will donate diapers to a mom in need!

Q-Tips "Perfect Nursery" Review & Giveaway

Q-tips® cotton swabs has teamed up with Celebrity Nursery Designer, Wendy Bellissimo, to introduce the newest addition to the Q-tips® family - Q-tips® Baby Packs. Wendy, who is no stranger to designing perfect nursery spaces, has worked with celebrity moms like Brooke Shields and Kelly Ripa. She has great tips and tricks to create a nursery that is both beautiful and practical ... to care for any baby with style!

The new Q-tips® Baby Packs are a stylish nursery essential that are functional and finally cute enough to keep out in the baby's room
In two adorable nursery animal designs, these space-saving packs make it easy for mom to keep Q-tips® cotton swabs at her fingertips and feature a sliding drawer that helps keep Q-tips® clean for use in baby care

We were thrilled when offered to review the new Q-tips Baby Packs. I love Q-tips! I seriously use them every single day. I use them for the obvious, cleaning your ears, and I've used them on both kids when they were infants to clean their umbilical cords and folds in their necks. I use them to clean cuts, apply medicine (on both my kids and my dogs), and applying eye makeup. J uses them when doing arts and crafts and I even use Q-tips to clean the small crevices around my sinks. There are just endless possibilities.

The size and shape of the new Q-tips Baby Packs are perfect for my changing table. They are small so they don't take up too much space. Their designs are just adorable and fit right in with any nursery decor. I especially like how the boxes can slide open and closed with one hand. The cover is great because I've knocked it off the table a time or two and the last thing I have time for is picking up hundreds of Q-tips off the floor.

We also received a beautiful silver elephant bank for Baby L's room. It's just adorable and the perfect nursery essential for any boy or girl.

Visit Wendy Bellissimo who shares her tips on creating the perfect nursery. Once you sign up, you will receive tips from Wendy Bellissimo on how to design a stylish, yet functional nursery and items that are essential to have on hand!

Want to WIN your own Q-tips "Perfect Nursery" Baby Pack? One random Oh My Baby reader will win 2 Q-tips baby packs (one safari & one farm animals design) and 1 beautiful silver elephant bank. Blast Pad Review

Growing Tree Toys has a variety of education toys for boys and girls of all ages. They were generous enough to send me their Blast Pad for review.

Description

What’s that flying through the air? It’s a bird – no it’s a plane – no it’s a Booster Pack Missile flying with the Blast Pad from Marky Sparky! Launch missiles high into the sky from the Blast Pad by simply acting like a frog and hopping onto the launch pad – your jump forces air through the launch tube and sends a Booster Pack Missile flying. The flex launch tube of the Blast Pad extends almost 3 feet, points safely away from children, and only launches in the vertical position. Start blasting away with the one-of-a-kind Blast Pad from Marky Sparky! Includes 3 missiles

After weeks of frigid temps and lots of snow we were finally able to get outside one afternoon. J was so excited to finally be able to open the Blast Pad. The missiles are foam tipped and I really liked that all of the pieces can be stored together. I don't have 3 missiles laying around or getting lost. J could get the missiles on the tube easily by himself. After jumping on the launch pad, we were all surprised by how high the missiles actually went. I'm embarrassed to say that Dear Hubby and I ended up in a contest to see who could get their missiles the highest while J would run after them. I felt good in knowing that the missiles can only be shot vertically into the air making it safer for kids. If the tube is bent, the missiles just pop off. I know this because Dear Hubby tried to aim one at me...nice influence huh?

Want to buy a Blast Pad for yourself? They retail for $27.95 and can be purchased at Growing Tree Toys.

Lovey's Tushi Wash Review & Giveaway

"Lovey's began with a mother's love for her baby! With a passion for health and healthy living, this mummy became frustrated by the lack of natural product options for her baby. After months of trying several different tushi cleaning solutions on the market, she decided to create her own product with good quality, natural ingredients. After experimenting with different formulas, she came up with what is now Lovey's Tushi Wash."

Call me naive, but I never knew baby wipes were made with chemicals. I always thought of them as damp tissues. I've used them on both kids, myself and throughout the house cleaning up little messes. The first time I heard about the chemicals in baby wipes was when Baby L got diaper rash due to teething. When I talked to my pediatrician about it she reminded me not to use baby wipes on his bottom. The chemicals just burn and sting the rash. Chemicals? Really? I truly had no idea. When I was asked to review Lovey's Tushi Wash, I knew I needed to try it. The natural alternative to baby wipes, Lovey's Tushi Wash is Zinc & Petroleum free, Sulfate & Paraben free and Lavender & Tea Tree oil free.

At first squirt, Lovey's Tushi Was has a scent that reminds me of a creamcicle with a hint of mint. It's not over powering and doesn't linger for too long. I used a soft washcloth and wiped Baby L's bottom. It cleaned just as well as a baby wipe but I felt better knowing it was all natural. Using washcloths is more environmentally friendly. Each bottle of Lovey's Tushi Wash has 200+ applications.

When out and about, use Lovey's disposable & biodegradable compressed bamboo cloths, called Mini Shoo-Foos. You just run the compressed disc under water and it opens into a 12" x 20" soft cloth. While at home, use Lovey's thick and absorbent organic bamboo washcloths. They fluff up beautifully, are 400% more absorbent than cotton and have a natural anti-bacterial quality.

Want to WIN your own bottle of Lovey's Tushi Wash?

Mommy Necklaces Review and Giveaway

"Mommy Necklaces™ are an innovative and trendy accessory for the nursing mom. In 2005, Mommy Necklaces™ began revolutionizing the way that necklaces were worn by moms by creating a necklace designed to be worn while nursing, simply a ‘nursing necklace’. Mommy Necklaces™ aid nursing mothers by making their job as a breastfeeding mom a little less painful, literally. Created by a nursing mother, the idea was born out of desperation when her daughter neared four months old. Tired of the daily wrestling match between baby and breast, along with her daughter’s constant twiddling, pinching, and distractibility, she knew breastfeeding did not have to be this hard and painful! Distracted babies nurse less during the day and more at night (tired mommy!) and fidgety babies love to pull their mother’s hair and leave pinch marks (poor mommy!). Mommy Necklaces™ were invented to occupy busy hands away from Mommy’s hairline while engaging baby in a way that results in longer nursing sessions."

When I had Baby L, I had to stop wearing necklaces because of all the pulling, grabbing and twisting he did. I didn't want him to break anything especially some of my nicer pieces. While nursing, I noticed that since my jewelry was gone, he started playing with my hair and creating knots. I needed something to distract him. I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to review Mommy Necklaces, also known as nursing necklaces, and couldn't wait to try one of their beautiful pieces.

First off, I just want to say you DO NOT have to be a nursing mother to wear a Mommy Necklace. I repeat, you DO NOT need to be a nursing mother. Mommy Necklaces are beautiful and trendy. With 22 different designs you are bound to find one to match whatever you are wearing.

I received the Flat Rock necklace in Blush. It's gorgeous! Had I seen this in a store I would never have thought it was a 'nursing necklace'. All of the beads are made of high-quality acrylics that are tested for both lead and phthalates. The beads are then strung onto an extra sturdy cord that is guaranteed from breaking and comes with a secure break away closure. I tested the Mommy Necklace by pulling and tugging and nothing broke apart so I put it around my neck for Baby L's next nursing. The Mommy Necklace definitely caught his eye. He noticed it right away and began pulling and tugging at it. Throughout nursing, he continued to twist and play with the necklace. He nursed very well and my hair stayed in tact. I kept the necklace on the rest of the day because it just happened to match my outfit that day. Dear Hubby mentioned it, thinking I bought a new piece of jewelry. He had no idea what I was wearing was just a "nursing necklace".

Just when you thought Mommy Necklaces couldn't get any better, check out their guarantee

"Mommy Necklaces gives you the guarantee that you deserve. Yes, that says 0 to 3 years above and better yet, we mean it! Can it get any better? Yes, it can. Not only do we guarantee our necklace from breakage through the early childhood years (0 to 3 years is when the most yanking and 'man handling' of our jewelry occurs) but we'll also repair your Mommy Necklace in the case of an 'unfortunate' accident. A chip, a crack, or just loss of 'sparkle'. Send it back to us, twice a year for three years, and we'll 'pretty' your Mommy Necklaces back up for you!"

Want to WIN one? The generous people from Mommy Necklaces is offering one Oh My Baby reader a Henna Dangling Donut necklace. Leave your comment by 11:59pm EST February 1st. One random winner will be chosen and have 48 hours to respond.

BabyLegs Review & Giveaway

BabyLegs® became a leader in children's fashion when it created a new niche in the market for its original line of children's leg and arm warmers in 2005. Created by a mom to keep her daughter's legs warm while she was diaper free, BabyLegs® leg warmers quickly became a parenting essential because of their utility, practicality, and stylish appeal. In the fall of 2009, BabyLegs® expanded into children's hosiery with the introduction of baby socks and girls tights.

I received a pair of BabyLegs for review and couldn't be more thrilled with them. They are soft, stylish and actually stay on Baby L's legs. The elastic ends aren't too tight or leave weird marks on his ankles and thighs. When I first told Dear Hubby about them he just thought about the leg warmers that were so big in the 80's but when he saw the stylish patterns, even for boys, he changed his mind. Baby L is at the stage where he hates diaper changes and does nothing but roll and flip all around. Dressing him in a onesie with a pair of BabyLegs makes diaper changes so much easier because I don't have to wrestle him while trying to put on and take off pants. The BabyLegs also help to protect his knees while he crawls around.

BabyLegs can grow with your child and be used on the arms as well. J loves wearing t-shirts even in the middle of winter and BabyLegs have allowed me to not fight trying to convince him he can't wear short sleeves when it's 30 degrees out. I let him wear his favorite t-shirt and pull the BabyLegs over his arms for extra warmth.

BabyLegs have so many patterns and colors to choose from, they are the perfect accessory. You can easily find some to match and coordinate with all of your different outfits.
Want to WIN some BabyLegs for yourself?? The generous people from BabyLegs are offering one Oh My Baby reader a $10 GC to use at their site. Do you want the leg warmers, girl's tights or baby socks? Leave your comment by 11:59pm est January 29th. Good Luck!

General Mills - Less Sugar for Healthy Kids

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
- Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.

- Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.

- More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

We love cereal in this house. When I was pregnant with both kids, cereal was the only thing I craved and ate over and over and over again. Companies do a great job of marketing their cereals in bright and colorful boxes with cute cartoon characters. It's so tempting for J whenever we go down the cereal isle. He always chooses the boxes that are colorful and fun, not even knowing what is inside. It makes me feel so much better knowing that General Mills is working hard at giving kids what they want and need and they do it all with the bright colors that J loves. Not only are General Mill's cereals great in a bowl with milk but they are versatile for other snacks as well. I love making chex mix with their varieties of Chex and Cheerios. They are a great snack for J or make enough to share with friends at a party.

I received 4 free cereal coupons from General Mills and My Blog Spark for review on my blog. The views and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

"Winnie The Pooh - A Special Valentine For You" Movie Review

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You Special Edition on January 5, 2010. I grew up watching and loving Winnie the Pooh so I was excited to have the opportunity to review the movie and share it with J. This Valentine animated collections includes 3 Winnie the Pooh stories, including A Valentine for You, Un-Valentine's Day and My Hero.

I live on the East Coast and we've had a lot of snow and blistering cold weather lately so this was the perfect chance to stay inside, snuggle under a blanket and watch some movies. J was so excited when he saw he had a new movie to watch. A Valentine for You is about Pooh and his friends seeing Christopher Robin writing a Valentine for a new girl and they become concerned that he will no longer have time for them. This is a sweet story that reminds us we have enough room in our hearts for both new and old friends. Un-Valentine's Day is about Rabbit wanting to cancel Valentine's Day because he got too many valentines the year before. Reluctantly everyone agrees. Next thing you know, Valentine's Day is in full swing and even Rabbit is happy to be celebrating. The third and final story is My Hero. This story is about Piglet saving Tigger's life and Tigger wanting to do anything and everything to repay Piglet, even when it does him more harm then good.

BONUS FEATURES

*”Catch the Love Bug Game” – Flying “Love Bugs” are on the loose in the Hundred Acre Wood and it’s up to the viewer to catch as many as possible

*Pooh-themed Valentine’s Day cards

Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You Special Edition is available for U.S. $29.99 (SRP), Canada $35.99 (SRP) from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

J loved all 3 of the stories and we watch the whole collection atleast twice a day. These classic stories are heart warming and can be enjoyed for years to come. I know when Baby L gets bigger he will love them all too and it will be a great way for the boys to bond together.

I received a copy of this movie free of charge for review on my blog. I was not compensated in any other way. All views and opinions are my own.

Phew!

So I'm a few days late in tying up loose ends. I still can't believe we're already in 2010! Today was the first day dear hubby went back to work and J went back to school after 2 full weeks off. It was so nice having the extra pair of hands helping out around here but it also made it easier to slack off a bit with things that need to get done. The holidays are a crazy time especially when you go out of town and have out-of-towners here like we did. I've spent the day cleaning, grocery shopping, doing laundry and just catching up on life.

I'm so late in mentioning this so I hope my secret stocking swapper can forgive me. I mentioned this in a short post before but didn't give all of the details. I participated in a secret stocking swap with Rocking Mama and MommyMandy. My partner sent me some wonderful goodies.

The sprinkles were opened before I took this picture because they came just in time for our cooking baking day. The boys love reading The Snowman book and we all love the S'mores book. In fact, I loved the book so much I ordered another copy and gave it to one of my best friends for Christmas. Thank you so much Stocking Swapper!!

The holidays are officially over and the decorations are all packed away. But now I'm in full swing planning Baby L's first birthday party next month. I can't believe he's already turning one! I guess I won't be able to refer to him as Baby L anymore.

So things should start getting back to normal around here. I've got a ton of great reviews and giveaways in store so I hope to see you around again.

BJ's Wholesale Club Review and Giveaway

BJ's Wholesale Club is known for helping families save money on things like groceries, clothes, electronics and more. I was able to experience this savings for myself when I received a $25 gift card courtesy of BJ's and My Blog Spark. I took in my coupon for a free 60 day trial membership and was relieved when I wasn't pressured to buy a membership. You know how most "free" things come with some kind of fine print but this really had no strings attached. The store wasn't overly crowded and had an easy layout. I wondered around for a while seeing everything BJ's Wholesale Club had to offer. You can literally get anything in this store. Milk, socks, TVs, phones, baked goods and vacuums to name just a few. It's like 5 stores rolled into one and all with prices that are hard to beat.

With my $25 I purchased, olive oil, cheese and yogurt. I know pretty random but if you knew how much cheese and yogurt we go through in this house you would understand.

If you decide that you want to continue to save money on great products for longer than the trial period, ask an associate at the club about how to take advantage of the special new-member *paid offer for $45, which includes a $10 coupon and an extra two months of membership. If you sign up for the offer, you also will receive:

- A Member Savings Book with more than $1,000 in coupons and instant rebates
- "Sign up and Save" coupons worth $117 in savings
- 2 cards (one for you and someone else in your household)
- A no risk 100% money back guarantee on the fee if you are not satisfied

*Paid offer can vary by Club.
